Employee Highlight: Shawn Newell

Shawn Newell knows a thing or two about success. As the Vice President of Business Development, he has 32 years of experience leading his Industrial Supply team members in achieving important company goals. His approach to leadership most likely stems from his past involvement with the NFL, playing for the Chicago Bears. His competitive nature also seems to derive from his former career; nothing makes him happier at work than when his team is able to win over new business over the competition. In his own words, Shawn believes success is synonymous with the feeling of being whole. A self-described positive person, Shawn is always striving to improve himself and his community. His greatest influences are God and his friend and former coworker, Phil Thompson (Chairman of the Board). He truly enjoys serving his customers and getting to demonstrate who Industrial Supply is culturally. His hopes for the industry include continuous growth and prosperity, as well as bestowing more opportunities to underrepresented communities and individuals. Although he admittedly has a hard time balancing work and personal life, Shawn enjoys gardening, reading, and officiating sports when he has the time. Learning is also very important to Shawn. He advises new hires to soak up all the information they can, and encourages them to care about where they are and the people that surround them.
