Employee Highlight: Tim Dykes

Hardworking, dedicated, and loyal. That’s how Tim Dykes’ coworkers would describe him, which is why his team at Industrial Supply has nominated him as a “Solution Star” - a designation that recognizes and rewards employees that go above and beyond at work.

When Tim first started at Industrial Supply 12 years ago, he worked as a driver. After that, he began working the front counter and then moved on to Sales before being promoted to Sales Lead. Tim has become a jack of all trades. Working in Inside Sales comes with its fair share of challenges, but no matter what the challenge is, Tim always throws himself into his work and is constantly pushing himself. Every day, Tim follows this personal mantra: “you get out what you put in.” That strong work ethic is a big reason why Tim has been highly successful at what he does, and when he became an Inside Sales Lead, it was one of his proudest moments working at Industrial Supply.
Tim wouldn’t be the man he is today if it weren’t for the biggest influences in his life - his father and his grandparents. Having a strong family presence has shaped Tim’s work ethic and goals in life, so it wasn’t a surprise that when Tim was asked how he defined success, his response was “Providing a good life for my wife and kids and being the best father I can be.”

Finding that perfect balance between work and family is something that Tim is always striving for. It can be difficult finding that sweet spot, so when Tim was asked how he does it, he said that he has found that getting away from the “busy life” in the city seems to help the most. Whenever Tim finds time to get away, he always tries to spend it in the outdoors with his family — camping, golfing, fishing, and anything else that is sports related.

With his years of experience and knowledge, Tim’s advice to new employees at Industrial Supply is: “Work hard, absorb as much knowledge as you can in all aspects of the company, and always be willing to put in the extra work.” Tim hopes to remain with Industrial Supply for many years to come, to see the company continue on the path of success, and to keep on growing.
